The Naperville Police Department Social Services Unit addresses needs within the community, particularly those related to domestic violence, mental illness, child/elder abuse, sexual abuse, substance abuse and youth and family issues.
Ali Smith Wieringa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Domestic Violence Professional, and Dementia Connection Specialist. As a Police Clinician, she primarily provides crisis intervention, short-term counseling and referrals, mental health assessments, victim assistance, and follow-up on police reports that require further assistance. Ali specializes in senior citizens and loves helping aging residents and their families/caregivers. She was formerly an investigative caseworker for the Illinois Department on Ageing Adult Protective Services program.
